The largest foreign export site in Jackson is Procter & Gamble, which manufactures and exports Pringles potato chips around the world.
"Procter & Gamble chose to locate in Jackson for the workforce," says Randy Kennedy, Procter & Gamble's public affairs manager. "Our plant here has proven to be very successful. We have found a workforce with a strong work ethic in this community."
The Procter & Gamble facility opened in 1971, employs about 1,300 people and utilizes 600 contract employees. The local plant manufactures products that are exported to 53 foreign countries in Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America. In the United States, Pringles' share of the snack market falls behind Frito-Lay, but Pringles is the No. 1 chip in Taiwan and Korea.

The West Tenn. Diamond Jaxx added the title of "champion" to their name in September 2000 by defeating the Jacksonville (Fla.) Suns in the best-of-five final round of the 2000 Southern League playoffs. The Diamond Jaxx won the series three games to two, including an exciting 4-3 victory in game five to clinch the crown. Not bad for a professional baseball team only in its third year of existence in Jackson.
